Official Work Parties visit the island twice a year to further the practical work of the Kinloch Castle Friends Association. The dates of work parties will be given in Newsletters and on the website. eNewsletters are produced at least twice a year and more if necessary. Copies of these may also be viewed through the website.
The 2017 AGM took place in rooms at Glasgow University on Saturday 17th June 2017 at 12 noon, beginning with a light lunch. The minutes are available through the website.
Please contact Catherine Duckworth firstname.lastname@example.org to enquire about all work parties/visits. The next work party will take place from 22nd to 26th March 2018. NB The March work party will be within the Calmac winter timetable. It is anticipated that there will be extra work parties if our plans continue for asset transfer. Much work will be needed to prepare the hostel, bar and bistro including painting, cleaning, etc etc.
Accommodation will be in the Rum Community bunkhouse. Note too that there is one twin bedded room, the others being bunks. It is important that you book early to avoid disappointment. There will no longer be any hostel or oak rooms within the castle to stay in and there will not be catered meals. However while we each make our own breakfasts and lunches, we share the cooking for the evening meals and therefore eat together. Some may prefer to stay at the B&B at Ivy Cottage with Fliss Fraser. See www.isleofrum.com for full information. Some catering is provided in the Community Hall and the Rum shop is also extremely well stocked now.
Many members have stayed at the Castle at other times than with work parties. Castle experiences will build up a picture of the castle at different times. I'd be delighted to add your voice.
